So you died without a will...

Then you probably have bigger things to worry about, but your family might be wondering who gets your baseball card collection (or your house and millions, if you are lucky).
Here is a good basic chart to show what happens if there is no will:

CP= community property
SP=Separate property
RE= Real Estate.

what if I can't afford a will? I don't want my sister to get anything!

Anyone can afford a will. Wills can be expensive, but they do not have to be if you are clear and let your attorney know what you want.

You can also make your own (called a holographic will, but you have to write it all out by hand) or type one up and get it witnessed and notarized (depending on where you live, you might need 2 or more witnesses).

I advise against doing-it-yourself, but it is better than nothing. Email me if you need advice.
